Underscoring our commitment to responsible sourcing, ingredient certifications support the conservation of natural resources and improvement in the livelihoods of farmers and workers involved in our supply chain. We also use a Risk Assessment Methodology and tool developed with, and validated by, the Rainforest Alliance to identify inherent supplier and ingredient sourcing risks based on country of operation and global ESG risk insights.

As a member of RSPO, a nonprofit that unites stakeholders to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil, we seek to ensure that our palm oil supply chain does not contribute to deforestation, peat clearance or human rights abuses.

We use Sedex, a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to driving improvements in responsible and ethical business practices in global supply chains, to run reports on our suppliers’ ethical data, manage information on our own facilities and share information with our customers.

We are a member of TfS, a collaborative chemical industry effort that seeks to assess, audit and improve sustainability practices in the supply chain. Through this partnership, we share our supplier sustainability assessments and audits with all members, which avoids duplicate efforts for our suppliers.

Since 2015, we have been a signatory of the UNGC, a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. Our GRI reporting also serves as a communication on progress (COP) towards the implementation of these principles and achieving our sustainability targets.

LMR Naturals by IFF and Southern Cross Botanicals, a division of Lucas Meyer Cosmetics by IFF, are members of UEBT, an internationally recognized nonprofit association made up of member companies in the natural ingredient supply chains for the food, cosmetics and natural pharmaceutical sectors.

We are an associate member of the Upcycled Food Association, a nonprofit focused on reducing food waste by growing the upcycled food economy. Upcycled foods use ingredients that otherwise would not have gone to human consumption, are procured and produced using verifiable supply chains, and have a positive impact on the environment.

In September 2020, we further reinforced ambitious commitments to nature and climate action by signing on to Business for Nature’s call-to-action urging governments to adopt policies now to reverse nature loss in this decade.

As a member of RE100, a corporate leadership initiative of businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity, we are committed to procuring 100% of our electricity needs from renewable sources in the shortest practical timescale possible and as financially feasible.

This initiative is a partnership between CDP, UN Global Compact, WRI and WWF, which helps companies set greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in line with climate science. In 2022, we updated our science-based pathway to reduce GHGs in line with the Paris Agreement to be reflective of our combined company footprint and new 2021 baseline and submitted to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for approval.

In September 2019, we reconfirmed our commitment to mitigate climate change by signing the U.N. Business Ambition for 1.5°C: Our Only Future pledge communications and advocacy campaign to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius through more aggressive science-based targets for emission reduction.

We were the first in our industry to sign the U.N. Global LGBTI Standards of Conduct for Business, pledging to tackle discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people.

In 2019, we adopted the U.N. Women’s Empowerment Principles, a set of seven tenets to advance and empower women and provide equal treatment in the workplace, marketplace and community.
